We were recently commissioned by RTÉ, Ireland’s National Television and Radio Broadcaster to design a brochure and landing page for their Autumn Season press launch.

The 44page brochure highlights the broadcaster’s upcoming schedule for RTÉ One and Two television stations a long with what viewers can expect in terms of diverse programming.

As designers, one of our considerations is the flow of content, and in this particular case, content was subject to change right up to final approval. To facilitate this a flexible 3 column layout was chosen which meant imagery and texts could be adapted to suit the varying amount of texts supplied.

As with previous years, with content was constantly changing right up to approval, we advised the client to initially deliver the brochure as a PDF file, viewable on their website, and if after they required a printed version, this could be facilitated. This process ensured that the content presented at the press launch was the most current.

The landing page features a page flip document of the brochure, along with options for the user to download their own copy as a PDF file. Another function of the landing page is the use of modal windows for the user to view trailers and clips contained within the one page, and preventing the user from wandering off into other sections of the website.

It was a great surprise for me today to discover that I was having problems with accessing my email from one of my accounts! The email address in question was attached to my video production company called Picturebox.

As I was getting a log in error, I decided to visit the site to discover it was not there! Gone! Disappeared! And so was the mirror domain name www.pictureboxmovies.com

This is what was displayed when wot visited the site:

So, I promptly called my hosting company who questioned me on the administrative contact for the domain names, I confirmed it was me and who I was.

I was then asked what the other email address was! I stated there is no other email address, and I was told there was another email address….and it was not connected to my name.

Apparently someone managed to access my control panel in January and changed all the contact information with out my authority or knowledge.

Register 365, stated they would re-activate my domains, but I would have to fax them my company registration details and state that I was the legal and rightful owner of the domains within 24 hours or I would loose my domain name!

I couldn’t believe it! And I couldn’t believe that some one could access my account and change contact details without my consent, knowledge, or verification!

Once www.picturebox.ie was re activated I got the following email:

To whom it may concern: 2009-6-29

We are a domain name registration service company in Asia,

Last week we received a formal application submited by Justin Lin who wanted to use the keyword “picturebox” to register the Internet Brand and with suffix such as .cn /.com.cn /.net.cn/.hk/ .asia/ domain names.

After our initial examination, we found that these domain names to be applied for registration are same as your domain name and trademark. We aren’t sure whether you have any relation with him. Because these domain names would produce possible dispute, now we have hold down his registration, but if we do not get your company’s an reply in the next 5 working days, we will approve his company’s application

In order to handle this issue better, Please contact us by Fax ,Telephone or Email as soon as possible.

Yours sincerely
